What is the Montreal SMACKDOWN?
As always, when it swings in Montreal, it swings hard! The Montreal SMACKDOWN is an intense, jam packed dance and workshop weekend with internationally recognized dancers and instructors Skye Humphries from Washington, DC, and Frida Segerdahl from Stockholm, Sweeden! It all takes place during a 4 day weekend in late November and early December that focuses on pushing your lindy hop to new limits. With intense workshops and intense evening events, we’re pretty sure that you’ll have gotten your own SMACKDOWN by the end of it!
About Skye & Frida:
Skye Humphries is an internationally renowned swing dancer and instructor. He emphasizes fun, energetic social dancing with strong partner connection, solid technique, innovative moves, and musicality. Skye is a member of the award winning Lindy Hop dance troupe Minnie's Moochers. He has taught and performed Lindy Hop at major dance events and dance camps, all over the world, including Herräng Dance Camp in Sweden and the Ultimate Lindyhop Showdown in Minneapolis. Originally pressured into taking Lindy Hop classes by his mother at the tender age of 12, Skye soon found that social dancing really is the best thing in life. His joy for the dance and incredible talent has earned him some of the most prestigious awards at national dance competitions, including winning the 2002 Lindy Hop World Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia. He currently resides in DC where he is the least helpful member of the Jam Cellar. Feisty, energetic, explosive! Frida Segerdahl might be the smallest member of Sweden's internationally acclaimed swing dance performance team, the Harlem Hot Shots, but there's no way that you'll miss this red-haired wild woman once she's sprung into action. In addition to her performance skill, many have rated Frida as one of the best social dancers in the world. Dancing since six years old, she spent three of her high school years at a dance school. She has been dancing Bugg, Double Bugg, Boogie Woogie, modern dance and jazz in addition to Lindy Hop for most of her sweet little life.

However, 3 years ago, it was purchased by a very savy Belgian television, cd and music video producer, who transformed it into a stunning world class venue for all types of performances, recordings and video productions. It's now home to many special events, including an intimate concert with Diana Krall just a few weeks ago, at the end of September!
